Manaswini Foundation, a vibrant NGO based in Nagpur, organized a Health Awareness Workshop at Bharat Vidyalaya, Ram Nagar, Nagpur, benefiting over 100 students.
Dr. Khushbu Agrawal, MDS Orthodontist and Owner of Niramay Orthodontic and Multispeciality Dental Clinic, Nagpur, educated the children about proper oral hygiene and common dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Emphasizing the importance of early intervention, she explained how good oral health prevents serious problems and is closely linked to overall well-being.
Oral health impacts a child’s self-esteem, social interactions, and academic performance since dental pain can be a major distraction. Preventative care helps students focus on their education without discomfort. The students actively participated and won prizes by answering health-related questions during the program.
The workshop also addressed menstrual health, a vital but often overlooked topic. Many young girls lack proper knowledge about menstruation, and this session helped dispel myths and reduce stigma.
Access to sanitary products is crucial for maintaining hygiene and preventing infections. Providing sanitary pads ensures that girls who cannot afford them do not miss school during their periods, improving attendance and educational continuity. Educating girls about menstrual health and supplying necessary products empowers them to manage their periods with dignity and confidence.
Overall, the workshop aimed to improve students’ health and well-being, helping them grow up informed and healthy. It also raised awareness in the broader community about the importance of oral hygiene and menstrual health, fostering more supportive and informed attitudes.
Such initiatives have a lasting impact on the students’ physical health, academic success, and overall quality of life.
